Manchester United Women want two new players. They plan to sign them in January.
Manchester United Women like Swedish right-back Hanna Lundkvist. Her deal with San Diego Wave in the NWSL ends soon. She joined them in February 2024 for one year. There was an option for more time, but she wants to come back to Europe. She will be free to sign with anyone.
Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur also like Lundkvist. But Manchester United looks like the top choice for her.
The team also wants German forward Lea Schüller. She plays for Bayern Munich. Her contract ends next summer. Since 2020, she scored 103 goals in 179 games. This season, in five league matches, she has four goals and four assists.
Coach Marc Skinner says they need players with experience. The team is getting ready for Champions League knockout games. They are third in the Women’s Super League. Skinner wants at least four new players in January.
Right-back is important. It will help Jayde Riviere, who plays a lot. The forwards need more help too. Rachel Williams, who is 37, backs up Melvine Malard and Elisabeth Terland. Skinner says this is to make the team better, not to swap out current players.
