This Saturday, the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Championship will feature two former University of Pittsburgh players. Sarah Schupansky and Deborah Abiodun, both rookies, will represent NJ/NY Gotham FC and Washington Spirit, respectively. Throughout the season, they have demonstrated strong skills and determination on the field.
Schupansky and Abiodun credit their success to the training and coaching they received at the University of Pittsburgh. Abiodun noted that the fast pace of professional soccer was well matched by the intensity and strategic lessons from her college coaches. Their time at Pitt prepared them well for the challenges of the NWSL.
Both players are proud to represent their alma mater at such a high level of competition. Their journey from college soccer to the NWSL Championship highlights the quality of the University of Pittsburgh's soccer program, which was led by former coach Randy Waldrum. Their achievements reflect the strong foundation built during their college years.
