Hoffenheim opened the scoring in the 25th minute through Valesca Ampoorter. Leipzig defended well at times but struggled to create clear chances before halftime.
Leipzig started the second half with more energy and Emilía Ásgeirsdóttir brought the score level in the 56th minute. Hoffenheim regained the lead in the 63rd minute via Laura Gloning, and Leipzig responded immediately when Gina Chmielinski equalised one minute later.
Selina Cerci scored in the 80th minute to make it 3-2 for Hoffenheim. Leipzig had late chances to draw level, but Delice Boboy missed two important opportunities and Ásgeirsdóttir could not score in stoppage time.
